Product Differentiation

YipitData is known for providing focused and consistent datasets and reports that maintain investors up to date on the key investment narratives of the companies they cover. Their differentiation can be summarized in three angles:

1. Impact to clients:

YipitData’s coverage is considered “must have”, meaning they only build and publish products that are truly differentiated in the market. Building and maintaining their systems and process costs hundreds of thousands of dollars per ticker; so, they do not invest on coverage that is not truly differentiated for discretionary investors. While they are one of the most expensive datasets, their subscription provides the most comprehensive offering on alternative data for investors covering a specific ticker. YipitData also combines other alternative data sources with their web data, to enable their research analysts to go extremely deep into the performance and trends happening at each company. The result is a combined data and research product that gives granular and accurate reads into company metrics, strategic developments, and competitive dynamics for a given company.

2. Highest quality data:

YipitData prides itself in delivering the highest quality data in the market. They are extremely focused on accuracy, focus, and transparent communication with their clients. Their core data source, web (scraped) data, are public facts published by companies on their websites that collectively provide insights into the fundamental performance of a business. At scale, these data points can be very accurate because these are facts published by the companies themselves, meaning they carry very little bias. The challenge is collecting these at scale in a reliable way. Over 9 years, YipitData has built the proprietary infrastructure and expertise to execute the most complex scraping projects. Web data is also very granular. They collect facts at the most fundamental level possible, usually item or product-level information. This enables their teams to dive deep into specific brand or category performance metrics and trends. Usually, the can see and report on fundamental trends that are not reported in company financial statement.

3. In-house team

They have a dedicated team of 70+ data engineers, data analysts, and ex-buy-side and sell-side research analysts covering just 70 tickers. Having an inhouse team that manages everything from collection to research ensures a consistent and focused product that understands the challenges and biases of working with data at every stage.
